Texas Roadtrip: Part One

John got 4 weeks off of school for his semester break so we decided to take a 2 week roadtrip down to Texas to visit family. We've been wanting to visit Dallas for awhile to scope out the area and see if it's a place we'd like to live after we're done with school. Since I have a sister and a brother that live in the Dallas area we decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to finally make the drive. In case you aren't aware, Las Vegas and Dallas aren't that close together on a map. We're talking about an 18 hour drive! It would have taken us even longer, but we decided to drive through the night so that Bentley would sleep for the majority of the trip. I did NOT want to spend an entire day in the car while Bentley was awake. Although John and I were both exhausted by the time we arrived, it was completely worth it! Bentley slept 13 of the 18 hours and the portable dvd player that we purchased the day before our trip kept him happy while he was awake (one of our most valuable purchases to date).

We stayed a week in Dallas and spent the first half of our week with my sister, Stephanie, and her family. We spent our time hanging out, shopping, and relaxing. My sister drove us around the area (which we fell in love with) and showed us some model homes that I can only dream about right now. My bestfriend from back home just happened to move to Dallas the week before our trip so we were also able to go to dinner with her and her husband while we were in town. John also called up his friend who just graduated from UNLV and is now a resident at Baylor's orthodontics program and met him at the school to get a tour just for fun. Bentley loved playing with his cousins, especially his cousin Grace. She's almost a year older than him, but they played so cute together and she knew just how to get him laughing. As soon as we got there Bentley found a play vacuum and pretty much didn't let it out of his sight until we left. I tried finding one for his birthday when we got home, but unfortunately it has been recalled...bummer! Thanks for letting us invade your home Steph and Dave!
