My little guy's baby days have come and gone, his toddler days came way too soon, and now he is one year old! Since all of his buddies were out of town during the semester break, we didn't have a big b-day celebration but we still managed to have some fun. We started out Bentley's day with breakfast in bed and then went downstairs to play with some of his new presents. He got a basketball hoop and a swing from mom and dad, a ton of clothes from Nana and Papa, and money for his mission fund from Great Grandma and Grandpa Andrews. Now that he is a year old we can add different flavor packets to his formula so we thought that he would be ecstatic about trying out the cherry vanilla flavor on his birthday. Wow, he was SO mad at us for messing with his formula! He didn't want anything to do with it and was miserable until we finally made him his regular nasty formula. In the afternoon we took him to Wal-Mart and let him pick out a toy. He of course picked out something that he could push around while making noise at the same time. He tried sneaking in another gift, but we quickly put that one back in its place.
We then headed home for some birthday cake...I mean watermelon. Poor guy didn't even get to have cake for his birthday (hopefully next year)! We decided to make watermelon his food trial of the week so that he could at least have something sweet for his birthday. He had more fun squishing it than eating it, but at least it was something other than sweet potatos! Later that evening we took him to a park to let him run around in the splash area and on the playground. We topped things off with a bath and storytime...that's a busy day for a one year old! Happy birthday Bentley!
P.S. I promise that I didn't hit my child between the eyes with a hammer. He just happened to have a little run in with our entertainment center the night before.
