Over the 4th of July weekend John and I were able to travel to Texas for my family's annual reunion. My entire family was there and we had so much fun seeing everyone. The only bad thing about family reunions is having to leave after only a few short days! Here are some of the fun things that we did while there:
My sweet sisters (and older nieces) threw me a baby shower on the first morning of the reunion at April's home. I got some great gifts and loved getting to spend some quality "girl time" with my mom, sisters, and sister-in-laws.
The crew minus our family's designated photographer, Whitney Tyler and Whitney planned this year's reunion and decided to center most of our activities around my brother Chad. To kick off our "Chad Fest" we all wrote notes to him on little stars and placed them on his grave. It was really sweet to hear some of the grandkids share their notes with the family.
Bushman grandkids at the grave Since our family is getting so big, we had an afternoon of activities planned at the church. We had a talent show and then each individual family prepared a game for everyone that reminded them of Chad.
John is so talented
For my game, all of the men had to style Barbie's hair for a prom date, and then the Barbie-aged granddaughters voted on a winner. It was pretty hilarious to watch them create their masterpieces. I still think that Chad would have won if he had been around to compete.
The guys showing off their creations. The barbie in the pink dress won (way to go Tyler!)
We spent the rest of the reunion enjoying one another's company. We went swimming, played lots of games, ate good food, took family pictures, and stayed up way too late. At almost any given hour you could also look out the window and find some of the grandkids riding around on one of Papa's golf carts.

Looks like everyone had a blast! We also had a reunion on the 4th and all of us decided to get sick. We passed around throwing up and diahrrea. Not so fun!!
Does Julie have short hair in that first picture? OMG

Looks like a lot of fun! We need to all have another reunion in Midland. Your house is the coolest!
That brings back so many memories of Bushman reunions when we were growing up. Fun times!
P.S. I loved the Barbie dressing contest...and yes I agree Chad DEFINATELY would have won. :) He did my hair one time but said "Shalene, don't you ever tell anyone I did this"
It was fun to look at the pics of your family and how much every one has grown up! What happened to the days when we all still lived at home in Midland with no worries! When is your baby due? You sure are all cute and prego!
I love all the Blaine Bushmans! What a great tribute to Chad! I'm sure he loved it. What cute girls you all are. It was great timing to be able to have that shower all together!
